Dating women has always been an interesting subject for me. I am a man and I am gay. I have never fancied dating women in my life, and don't plan to start now. I find it strange when I see a husband and a wife walking down the street together hand in hand. They seem to be completely happy and content together, which is lovely, but I don't understand. Surely it is more natural to be with someone of your own sex, that is the same as you and has the same parts. That makes alot more sense to me than being with someone with different parts. I'm aware that I am in the minority though and I don't mind that. I have nothing again straight people with straight relationships, yet often they seem to have a problem with me. I was talking to a religious man the other day and he didn't know that I was gay. He was a friend of a friend, and we were at the pub with our mutual friend and having a few drinks. This religious guy saw a blond, thin girl walk past the bar and his eyes went wide with glee. He turned back to me when she had gone and said that he would love to date her. He obviously expected more of a reaction from me, because his eyes narrowed suspiciously when I didn't share his enthusiasm. "Do you have a problem with dating women mate?" he asked, still with narrowed suspicious eyes. This annoyed me, as I knew that I wasn't going to lie to him, but I also got the feeling that he would have a negative attitude towards the truth. I went for a half way line. "Not really" I said casually "I just aren't that attracted to the one you liked." The guy seemed to relax a bit as if I had confirmed my straightness. "What type of girl do you like then?" he asked, in a more friendly manner. "Erm..." I said, "Well to be honest, I don't really like girls....at all." His eyes narrowed again and he became all tensed. "What?!"camehis disgusted whisper, as if I had swore something disgusting about his Mother. "Are yousaying that you are Gay?! That instead of dating women, you date men?!" He spat out the last word as if it was adisgusting bug, clutched the cross at his throatand looked at me furiously like it was a personal insult that I was gay.
