Dating in the new millennium has changed a lot from when I was a young woman. Now it seems that computers and dating sites have taken over matters of the heart. People are no longer trusted to find their own husband or wife, rather they sign up to dating sites and this is where they are matched with their perfect partner. These dating sites are everywhere, from the TV to billboards to magazine ads, so no matter how hard you try to ignore them they are in our face and at some point or another I think everyone will succumb and join at least one of them.

This is what happened with me, I am now 55 years old and the last thing I thought I would be doing is looking for love, on the World Wide Web! I have been single for over 10 years now and living in a retirement home can get really lonely when you don't have a partner. However I did not want to date any of the men that are living in the community, some friends had set me up on a blind date before with a guy that lives by me and it turned intoa big old mess and I really did not want to go through that again.

This is why I ended up signing up to two dating sites. I foundtwo very nice sites thatare specifically formore mature, active people. Now all I have to do is finish the sign up process and I can begin meeting and dating men my age. Hopefully these guys are serious about what they are looking for too. I think at our age its no longer about simple dating but finding that right person for you. I want to have someone to share my home and the years I have left of life with. I would also like to do some traveling but I don't want to do it alone.

I would like to be one of the great success stories for online dating; I want to find that perfect mate. Funny how after years of thinking that all those people that use dating sites were crazy I ended up doing the same thing they did. I guess at my old age I have finally caught up to the new way of dating, and itjust goes to showthat even an old dog can be taught a new trick.
